August 2026 Inspirational Spotlight - Brigitte Shulze
Every month, Sweet Dreams Luxe Beauty highlights a woman whose story inspires courage, compassion, and connection. For August, we are honored to spotlight Brigitte Shulze, a woman whose strength has touched thousands of lives.
As the mother of three daughters, Brigitte’s life was forever changed when her oldest daughter, Sarah, died by suicide. Sarah was in her junior year at the University of Wisconsin, where she was a dedicated member of the women’s cross country and track and field teams. She was a joyful, compassionate young woman who deeply loved her family, cherished her friendships, and had exciting plans for her future after graduation. Her death came as a complete shock to everyone who knew and loved her, reminding us that suicide does not always have visible warning signs — and that mental health challenges can affect anyone.
Her story is one of resilience, advocacy, and the belief that healing becomes possible when we choose to help others.

From the Sarah Shulze Foundation

Brigitte is the mother of Sarah Shulze, a gifted student‑athlete whose light continues to shine through the work of the Sarah Shulze Foundation. After losing Sarah to suicide, Brigitte and her family made a courageous decision: to transform unimaginable grief into meaningful action — creating a foundation dedicated to supporting mental health, academic pathways, and athletic opportunities.
In the midst of profound loss, the Shulze family chose to honor Sarah’s life by turning grief into purpose.
We founded the Sarah Shulze Foundation with a mission to prevent suicide through education, awareness, advocacy, and connection. We believe every conversation about mental health has the power to save a life, and that no family should have to experience the heartbreak of losing a loved one to suicide.
Our work is focused on creating meaningful change at both the community and legislative levels. We are proud to be leading the effort behind AB 1985, Sara Shulze’s Law, landmark California legislation that requires mental health and suicide‑prevention training for college coaches. The bill has already passed the California State Assembly and is now awaiting passage in the California State Senate. Sara Shulze’s Law recognizes the vital role coaches play in the lives of student‑athletes and ensures they are equipped to recognize warning signs, respond with compassion, and connect students with the support they need.
Beyond legislative advocacy, the Sarah Shulze Foundation is committed to bringing lifesaving education directly into our communities. We offer free mental health and suicide‑prevention training for parents, students, community organizations, athletic teams, coaches, and other groups. Our presentations are available both in person and via Zoom, making it possible to reach communities wherever they are. Our goal is to reduce stigma, empower people to recognize when someone may be struggling, and give them the confidence to have conversations that can save lives.
Sarah’s kindness, compassion, determination, and unwavering belief in helping others continue to inspire everything we do. By sharing her story, advocating for change, and equipping others with the tools to support those in need, we are committed to creating a future where fewer families experience this devastating loss.
Every day, we strive to be a power for good — just as Sarah was.
